On Tuesday July 5th, PhDs Andrew Chryss and Philip Fawell, from CSIRO (the Australian government agency on scientific and technologic research), offered a lecture in the AMTC’s facilities regarding tailings treatments.
The first presenter was Dr. Fawell, who gave details about flocculation processes monitoring using FBRM, a procedure that has been well criticized but still lacking complete validation. Then Dr. Chryss lectured on models for tailings draining using small channels.
These specialists are in Chile as part of a Corfo-CSIRO joint project, with the AMTC acting as co-executive. Dr. Christian Ihle, one of the Center’s principal researchers, is project leader and also produced the lecture.
